Introduce Yourself : Producer, director, writer by Dean Love

Dean Love

Producer, director, writer

I managed to survive the pandemic with a steady stream of productions and a writing gig, but now I’m just crazy busy. Is everyone else busy too? I hope so!

Have a great weekend everyone!

Maurice Vaughan

I'm crazy busy, Dean. How are you?

Skye Dent

Wasn't sure what the difference was being being crazy busy and having a steady stream of productions. Sounds similarly rewarding. {smile} Good to hear,

Dean Love

I’m doing well and glad to here you’re busy too. As far as the difference between steady stream and crazy busy? Steady stream is one after another, crazy busy is 4 projects going at once.

Dean, congratulations on having work to get you through the pandemic, I know a lot of people in our community struggled with the shutdown. You seem to be pretty prolific with all the projects you work on, could you share some advice to fellow Stage 32ers on how they can network to find more work opportunities? Really appreciate your expertise!

Dean Love

A lot of it is showing up and doing the work. And using venues like Stage 32 to meet others in the field. You never know who will be your next connection to advance your project or career. Also, know when to listen, sometimes being too anxious can make people spend too much time talking about themselves and not enough time listening to others. It’s great to sell yourself, but there is also a huge wealth of experience and information you can gain from people who’ve been in the business awhile. Know when to ask questions and when to shut up and listen. I’ve learned a lot that way over the years. I wish everyone nothing but green lights in their future!

Maurice Vaughan

Great tips, Dean.
