Hi Stage32 peeps - I'm Renée, Australia focusing on writing for the rest of 2022 - flyers for sales agents - 1st 10 pages of scripts - loglines.
Does anyone else see Stage32 emails and feel anxious about superb opportunities sailing by? I want to act now - but am in that phase of editing material to give my screen stories the best possible chance of being seen / read. It's not perfectionist paralysis [I wrote a blog about this for Stage32]. It's FOMO. How do others deal with it?
For those who celebrate Easter and also for those who don't - wishing you a marvelous day wherever you are in the world. I'm in Sydney and it's a beautiful autumn day.

Hello Renee , pleased to meet you. I also feel anxious, and I think I am not ready. Maybe I just need someone to push me...

Yes - an accountability colleague. I could use one of those too! I don't tend to respond well to negative or fear-based pushing. I prefer a safe space where I'm so inspired and encouraged, I can't wait to dive in, prep material and get it someone for a look-see and feedback. While critical feedback is important and necessary to spot areas that need work, it's important people like the story the original concept. I've had some tricky relationships with people who liked my writing and discouraged me from a writing a story I was passionate about because they wanted to engage me to work on their story instead. While this is great from a financial point of view, it's heartbreaking when it's not ethically transparent. Trust is broken. What works for you?

Hi, Renée. I can relate. Sometimes I want to send out scripts before they're done, but I've learned to wait and finish before sending them out. I've missed opportunities by sending out material that wasn't ready.

Hey Renée Brack - I am the Director of Script Services for Stage 32. You have probably received emails from me! Feel free to reach out to me at j.mirch@stage32.com - no matter where you are in your journey my job is to help you. And while some opportunities might not be appropriate yet, we'll get you there if you follow a path to get there. Then there will be not FOMO because you know you're doing things in the right progression. Look forward to hearing from you

Thanks so much for commenting here Jason. The Stage32 Pitch Guide is so valuable and while a got a lot of things right - I didn't think to include a rating for the film and I should have as I've been a certified, trained content assessor here in Australia. [* The tricky rating band to get right all the time is PG to M as young people's maturity is not fixed to their years in age] I also assumed tone in flyers / pitches was implicit in the writing so now I'll go back and make amendments - then be getting back in touch with you. Thanks again for your message here. It's very motivating :) RB
