I'm a screenwriter in Minnesota. Been writing for 20 years. I've had some short scripts produced, some feature scripts optioned, but nothing that led to becoming a professional (i.e., paid) screenwriter.
This week I got the news that a script I had worked on for 8 years was named the Golden Script Winner in The Golden Script Competition (https://www.goldenscript.net/feature-screenplays-2022).
The number of opportunities to quit and do something else in life are countless, but I know what I enjoy and wanted to keep doing. It can be frustrating and disheartening and seemingly meaningless, but hard work can pay off. And some times you just have to be the one who can take one more setback or no than everyone else. You know whether you can do it. Good luck to everyone writing: always know that I'm rooting for you.
