Just finished this one, and wow, made some very true statements about the publishing industry. I wouldn't say I enjoyed it, but it was very cleverly done.
I haven't read Yellowface yet, but I'm a BIG fan of that author's fantasy series, The Poppy War. It's a great three-book trilogy that I highly recommend!
Sam Sokolow think you made the right choice ;-) My screenwriter friends are always saying 'WHY do you have to write a whole book before you find out if a publisher wants it? And you don't get paid anything to write the thing lol.' They are kind of right, I reckon publishing has it backwards!
Through the second disc now. I'm a little surprised that she uses the neurotransmitter serotonin to indicate a pleasure response rather than the more in-vogue term dopamine. I'm not sure what kind of sensitivity-reader one would need to pick up on something like that.
Looks like I'm getting hooked on diverse stories set in the world of publishing. Now I'm listening to The Other Black Girl. Has anyone seen the show on Hulu?

It's on hold at the library. I have loved all her work so can't wait to read this one. Don't expect it to be a laugh riot.

This is the first I've heard of it, but I've put in a request for the audio version on CD. No waiting list that way (also I'm lazy).

I thought it was spot on about the publishing industry.

I haven't read it yet but almost went into publishing. Will read it now. Thanks, D.E. White!

I'm through the first disc now. So far, so good. It reminds me of the movie, "You Will Meet A Tall Dark Stranger."

I'm not sure, but maybe line edits?
Finished the story now. Anyone else get a dystopian feel from this one?
