My name is John Schakel Jr. I am Retired US Navy E-6 & Retired US Postal Tampa City Letter Carrier. I am a Nature/Landscape still life photographer & Scuba Diver/underwater still life photographer. I have been published about 20 time in magazines, text book, children books and business reports.
I have been an actor since 2005. I'm home based in Tampa FL and have done over 50 films, 50 commercials and 4 TV programs. I have played lead/support lead as Mafia Don, Priest, Doctor, Judge, Business Man, Homeless Man, Old man with Alzheimer's, Older delivery guy, Fisherman, Grandfather & Father.
June 2023 I received the "Best Strong Supporting Role" for Old Tobe in the film "Confessions of a Sailor" produced/written by Kurt Krauss at the June 2023 MLC Awards in Wisconsin. "Confessions of a Sailor" film also won "Best Religious/Spiritual Feature Film" at the Sept 2023 "New York Tri-City Film Festival."
Confestions of a Sailor is a true story about the sinking of the Charles D Brady on the Great Lakes in Nov 18 1958 as told by Old Tobe who was at the Red House Inn the night she went down.
