This is a Deadline article from March 4th, which I found whilst trawling around their back catalogue on the website.
I was keen to find out more about the box-office phenomenon that was ‘Sound of Freedom’ and how Angel Studios worked alongside its Angel Guild.
From a filmmaker’s point-of-view, it was interesting to read about how they test a film, to see if it’s a project that the studio wants to get behind. Imagine 250,000 guild members having their say on your movie, and depending on your score, having it rejected or edited by one of the studios staff.
This is a long interview about the CEO, Neal Harmon, his youth and early attempts at dairy farming, but then we also see how his business experience eventually led to the inception of Angel Studios.
What are your thoughts on the studio’s film testing/rating process and the pay-it-forward financing of (part of) the costs?
Are you planning to test the waters and approach Angel Studios with your film?
Let us know your thoughts below. Thanks.

The owners screwed the writer-director, artistically & financially.
Dan MaxXx from what I read, Dan, he relinquished his fees.

I like any system on any platform where viewers can put their money where their mouth is and have a say in content creation direction.
