Introduce Yourself : Author, Book Editor, Novice Screenwriter by Jacqueline Smith

Jacqueline Smith

Author, Book Editor, Novice Screenwriter

Hi, saying hello, though I've been skulking around the site for a few weeks and had a couple of interesting experiences already, but not ones I'd recommend, though.

Anyway, so far, I've published a couple of novels and non-fiction books but have braved the screenwriting challenge recently so, I now have a screenplay and a TV Pilot to pitch around. Wish me luck.

It's good to be here and wish for you all, what you want for your own writer, producer, director etc. journey.

All best, J

Maurice Vaughan

A new word for my scripts, Jacqueline Smith. Skulking.

It's great to meet you, Jacqueline Smith. Has being a book editor been helpful for you as a writer? What genres do you write in? Can you share what your screenplay and TV pilot are about?

Jacqueline Smith

Thanks Sam, and you. Yes, editing others' writing helps by highlighting how you can improve your own writing. I write historical, speculative and family saga fiction. There's some reviews on my website, https://www.wordsmithjacqueline.com My screenplay 'Wives of the Shrine Gods' adapted form one of my novels, is about..., wait for it...Logline Alert! A Scottish teenager must figure out how to help her friend, an enforced child prostitute, evade the Ghanaian Shrine priests, before her 10yr old sister is sacrificed to the Gods.

My TV Pilot is not quite finished yet, despite sharing some excellent collaboration with Emmy-nominated producer, Zoe Travis. It's the higher standards those producers have!? Keeps you reaching. It's a dark dramedy, called 'Gloria Tries to Grow her Groove Again': "After becoming fed up with their throwaway attitudes, a sexy sixty year old, soon realises killing men from dating sites is more exciting than romancing them." Wish you never asked now? LOL! So what about your writing, Sam?

Jacqueline Smith

Thanks for the congrats and heads up on those pitch links, Maurice. Great timing, since I have one tomorrow!

Maurice Vaughan

You're welcome, Jacqueline Smith. Let us know how the pitch goes.
