Your Stage : Call for Submissions by Cindy Mich

Call for Submissions

This is the eighth year for my film festival, and each year, I can see that the event is growing. Unlike a bunch of other festivals, I am not a fan of red carpets, tons of celebrity appearances/films, or having multiple venues. I am not simply about hosting a screening, doing step and repeat interviews, or bestowing awards to my buddies. My festival, Art is Alive, is literally all about keeping the art of cinema alive. How do I do this? No step and repeat/red carpet. Yes, special screenings from other festivals such as AFI and Tribeca - but the majority are indie filmmakers, both student and long-time creators. I am an award-winning journalist, so I do all the Q and A panels - and find other media to cover you before and during the festival. I start the collaboration/networking between filmmakers from the moment of acceptance through the festival itself. I also have distributed films through my event.

Fees are kept reasonable at $10 for any youth project (middle/high school or college); $35 for any short/feature from 5-90 minutes, pitch projects or web/TV series up to 90 minutes. Projects from 2019 on can be submitted. I also take screenplays up to 125 pages, and the fee for this is $25. This year, I also opened a new category for competition - any Film Related Podcast, Blog, Newsletter or Magazine can enter for the category for best Film Related Medium - and that fee is $25. Hi, Cindy Mich. I’m a Stage 32 Lounge Moderator. I wanted to let you know I moved your posts from the Filmmaking/Directing Lounge and Distribution Lounge to the Your Stage Lounge because they're promotion. Promotion can go in the Your Stage Lounge and on Your Wall.

You can put promotion in one of the main Lounges (Filmmaking/Directing Lounge, Distribution Lounge, Producing Lounge, etc.) if your post starts a conversation that’s helpful or educational to the community, like giving advice to filmmakers who are looking to submit films to festivals.

You can also put promotion in one of the main Lounges if you're asking for feedback.

Let me know if you have any questions.
