I was so psyched that Anora won Best Picture, that Sean Baker won Best Director, Best Original Screenplay and Best Editing and that Mikey Madison took home the Best Actress Oscar last night at the Academy Awards. I loved the film and supported it but the real reason I'm excited by the wins is that Anora is a true independent film. Sean Baker made his first feature, Tangerine, ON A CELL PHONE!
Baker rounded out the night with his closing thoughts for the Oscars. “I want to thank the Acedemy for rescognising a truly independednt film. This film is made of the blood, sweat and tears of incredible indie artists. Long live independent film!”
We are in the most incredible time ever for independent filmmaking. Be inspired. Believe. You can take your films and careers as far as you can dream.

His speech was really inspiring Sam Sokolow and as you say: Be inspired, believe and that’s enough!
I feel we are in a real good moment for Indie and themes that makes the difference! Thanks for sharing the link my friend.

I would be truly honored if you could shed light on the Iraqi woman, as she is a symbol of resilience and strength despite all the challenges.
I have an inspiring story that holds an extraordinary life experience, and I dream of turning it into a film that reflects the struggles, perseverance, and triumphs of the Iraqi woman against difficult circumstances.
I hope my story resonates with you, as it is not just a personal journey, but a humanitarian message that highlights the courage and unwavering will of many women facing life with determination and grace.Sam Sokolow
