Oppression or Opportunity: The Current Landscape for Screenwriters

Getting your spec made is harder than ever (so "they" say) but here's an optimistic article that gives some advice for how guys (and gals) like us can break in, get noticed, or just get our films made:

Personally, I never experienced any success on Coverfly and all my specs have all been optioned and produced no thanks to them. But I respect that others have had a positive experience with them for many reasons and each writer has his/her own path.

Thanks for sharing the article, Michael David. I like the "Build Your Own Website" idea. I've actually been thinking about doing that and showcasing pages from my scripts, sharing updates, etc. on the website.

Just Nikka

I once received script notes from a filmfest that had outsourced their ops to C'fly. The notes were flagged by a half-dozen AI-detection utilities as 100% fake. I summarily excluded all filmfests and comps that have (had) anything whatsoever to do with C'fly.

C'fly is kaputt? Shrug.

Maurice Vaughan I think that's a great idea!

I've seen some great Wix websites, Michael David. I'll probably try that and see what I come up with.
