Hello creatives!
I always try and make a post on the 'Introduce Yourself' weekends! My name is Al Carretta and I've been making independent feature films since 2010. I specialise in total spend production. My output is distributed across the World and four of my films have completely made their money back and more.
I work on zero marketing budget and hype organically. In the past week I just wrapped the core shooting on my 25th film, the crime drama 'Ash Grey Blonde' which releases in August. Indie film has got tougher than ever in recent years but in 2014, I launched Nightpiece Film Festival in EdFringe to give my fellow filmmakers an accessible short film platform at the World's largest Arts Festival. 12 years and 370+ screened films from across the World, this event is still ticking over.

Al, 25 films?! That’s phenomenal. The way you’ve built both your body of work and a global festival platform at EdFringe is incredibly admirable. Nightpiece Film Festival sounds like a vital space for emerging creatives, and it’s amazing to see it still going strong after 12 years, I am gonna look more into the projects they've been screening. Massive congrats on wrapping Ash Grey Blonde—looking forward to its release this August!
