I was just reading how Michael Sheen from Good Omens and Twilight recently released a children’s picture book, A Home for Spark the Dragon, benefiting homeless charities. He also launched and funded a national Welsh theatre. He has described himself as a “not-for-profit actor.” Emma Stone, Mark Ruffalo, Tarji, P. Henson and others are also 'actor activists'
My question is, Have you ever used your acting or creative skills in service of a cause you care about? If so, what happened?

Alexandra, what a thoughtful and powerful question. I love that you highlighted Michael Sheen, his commitment to using his artistry for social good is such a brilliant example of how creatives can create real-world impact.
I’ve seen members here on Stage 32 channel their talents into advocacy films, awareness campaigns, and community theater projects that give voice to underrepresented stories. It’s one of the most inspiring ways our industry can lead, with empathy and intention.

I just remembered, Alexandra Stevens. I have. I wrote a PSA about bullying and domestic violence for a producer way back. I'm not sure if it was made or not.

That is a thought provoking question Alexandra Stevens I was part of a theater company that besides our four times a year stage productions, we also had a play we took to prisons about the power of forgiveness.

Alexandra Stevens Yes, absolutely. I’m hoping to use my creative work to spread awareness about the lasting effects of nuclear warfare — inspired by the real-life story of Tsutomu Yamaguchi, the only officially recognized survivor of both Hiroshima and Nagasaki. I developed a concept based on his life and legacy, and I’m currently waiting to hear back on some pitches.
Although he passed away in January 2010, his testimony was read at the United Nations just a few months later during a Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) conference.

Dwayne Williams 2 how interesting! I didn't know about Tsutomu so thanks for educating me. I wonder about the process by which you landed on him and nuclear warfare as a concept to develop?

Ashley Renée Smith that's really inspiring to hear of lots of Stage32 members who have done just this

Suzanne Bronson oh that sound's cool. How was it for you to take a play to prisons? How did it go down with the inmates?

Alexandra Stevens I haven't but I wish I could claim I have! It's a wonderful thing to do. Always love that Johnny Depp would visit children's hospitals as Captain Jack Sparrow. Last year there was a local kid who dressed up in a very realistic spiderman outfit just to help kids in the area feel like they were safe(he posted up during Halloween on the main drag) and kids would take pics with him and it was amazing.
