Introduce Yourself

Happy Introduce Yourself Day!

I’m D.T. Yang — raised in New York City, with detours through Los Angeles, Austin, Dallas, and Ann Arbor. I write stories about outsiders, weirdos, and the lives lived just outside the mainstream. Regular people in extraordinary situations, testing their mettle — with some dark humor along the way.

I work primarily in sci-fi, comedy, and horror — sometimes all at once (especially if you’ve ever seen my stand-up).

In 2025, I’m currently a two-time semifinalist in the BlueCat TV Writing Competition, and have two quarterfinalists in the PAGE International Screenwriting Awards. I’ve worked with Spencer Robinson here on Stage 32 and highly recommend both him and the platform’s writing labs if you’re looking to level up your work.

Always happy to connect with fellow creatives. Let’s make weird, meaningful stuff together. If you’re into genre work with an existential bent — you’re in the right place. Take care!

Hi Danny Yang! I’m Ashley, Head of Community here at Stage 32, it’s great to meet you! Your passion for stories that live on the fringe of the mainstream really resonates, and I love your blend of sci-fi, comedy, and horror with a dose of dark humor. It’s such a unique space to explore meaningful truths.

Congrats on the recognition from BlueCat and PAGE, those are serious accomplishments! I’m also so glad to hear Spencer and the Stage 32 writing labs have been helpful to you. If you haven’t yet, I’d love to invite you to share some of your experience in the Screenwriting Lounge (https://www.stage32.com/lounge/screenwriting). Writers who are just getting started would benefit a ton from hearing your insights on labs, contests, and finding your voice in genre work.

Also, if you’re up for it, we’re running our July Filmmakers Club challenge right now, and this week’s theme is all about perfecting your pitch. You could be eligible to win a free contest entry and even a DaVinci Resolve Studio license! You can jump in here: https://www.stage32.com/blog/july-filmmakers-club-week-4-lets-talk-about...

Looking forward to seeing more of your work and weird, meaningful conversations in the community!
