"The Ghost" seems like a powerful concept — I'm always fascinated by stories that blend suspense and emotion. As a screenwriter myself, working on emotionally layered OTT series from South Asia, I’d love to know more about how the idea evolved and what inspired it.
Congrats to the team — wishing you all continued success!
Thank you, Abubakarab. The story was inspired by the first slave markets in New Orleans set up by the pirate Jean Lafitte and his brother Pierre. At the time, the island of Cuba served as a brokerage for traders from around the world, The slaves were then transported to New Orleans markets by Lafitte. The screenplay is for sale as a feature adaptable to series in the vein of "Outlander."
My name is Abubakar Asif. I’m a screenwriter and storyteller from Pakistan, and I recently came across your discussion on Stage 32 regarding your screenplay The Ghost. The historical depth and concept truly fascinated me — especially the connection with the early slave markets and the pirate Jean Lafitte.
I’m reaching out because I’m highly interested in learning more about the screenplay and how it might be adapted into a series format, as you mentioned. I'm currently developing several international screenplays myself and would love to explore any possibilities for collaboration, co-development, or even contributing to the series expansion.
If you're open to it, I’d be grateful for a chance to discuss this further or perhaps read a treatment or synopsis.
I'm open to discussion however international copyright laws and IP would have to be addressed before releasing any documents. The Ghost also won Cannes 1st Place Best Feature.TV Series, 1st Place F. Scott Fitzgerald Awards, Paris and a Cannes Emmy. If you're working with a production company and/or film studio I'll be happy to submit a pitch deck with synopsis by formal request. The series would definitely need a team of staff writers. The screenplay is adapted from a novel, which can be used for bibles for further episodes.
