Introduce Yourself : When the Bird Kissed Me by Minh Nguyen

When the Bird Kissed Me

I’d like to explain why I chose this profile picture, because it means a lot to me. It’s a photo of me as a baby in Vietnam, in my mother’s arms. She had placed a few seeds in my mouth, and someone brought a nest with a tiny bird, which gently pecked at my tongue.

That simple, unique moment symbolizes my instinctive love for nature. Since childhood, I have always adored animals, plants, and landscapes. Even a single ant could fascinate me. And still today, I carry that same love within me.

I grew up with these memories of Vietnam and my travels, and they continue to nourish the way I see the world, the way I tell stories, and the way I make films, with wonder, memory, and poetry.

Hi, Minh Nguyen. Great story. I was wondering about your profile picture. I loved/love nature. I had different favorite animals growing up. Lion, polar bear, elephant, etc. Did you have a favorite animal growing up?

Minh Nguyen

Thank you, Maurice. I share your feeling,I’ve always loved animals, and choosing a favorite is difficult because I truly love them all. But if I had to mention a few, I’d say killer whales, orangutans, hummingbirds, bears, and lions… there are just too many to name. :)

Lauren Hackney

Such a beautiful photograph and an equally beautiful story attached to it. Something to cherish and keep a hold of. Thank you for sharing!

Maurice Vaughan

You're welcome, Minh Nguyen. I want to write an animal script now!

That’s really beautiful and so full of light and love, thank you for sharing that Minh Nguyen , I always feel lighter and more connected with my heart and being when I’m in nature and allowing myself to let go of my “monkey mind” and being in presence with the birds in the morning, something very meaningful to me.

Minh Nguyen

Thank you so much, Lauren. That means a lot to me. Photography, just like film, feels like a way to hold on to fleeting moments of beauty. I’m glad the picture and story resonated with you.

Minh Nguyen

Juliana, your words touched me deeply. I feel the same way, nature has this power to quiet the noise in our minds and reconnect us with what truly matters. I love that you shared your morning moments with the birds, it’s so poetic and meaningful. Thank you

Minh Nguyen, what a beautiful image. For the last twelve years, I lived on a farm with horses, sheep, dogs, chickens, geese, pigs, rabbits, goats, guinea pigs and a cat. I love animals.
