Seeking Producer Guidance on Marketability

Hi everyone, I’m developing a feature project called AEGIS. It’s a unique blend of action, supernatural mystery and social commentary. I understand from your advice that marketability and budget range are key for producers and I’d love to connect with experienced producers here who could share insights on shaping a concept so it’s both creative and industry ready.

If you’re open to a conversation or collaboration, I’d be honored to connect.

Abdullahi Ismail How did you go about selecting that title? There are quite a few high-profile corporations that already use the name AEGIS, and that could potentially cause issues. While it’s not on the level of a brand like Microsoft or Google, the comparison helps illustrate the risk — companies are often very protective of their trademarks. Even if you’re technically in a different industry, you may still face pushback.

Thanks Kenneth George for pointing that out, that’s a really helpful perspective. Aegis was my working title because of its strong meaning and connection to the story’s themes, but I completely understand the potential risks around trademarks and branding. I’m definitely open to exploring alternative titles or variations that keep the spirit of the project while being unique and safe for the market.

Abdullahi Ismail Are you selling a script, or intending to produce a film? Those are two very different things. If selling the script then you don't worry about budget, but genre, etc. and look for producers who do that kind of project. The budget/packaging/etc. are all development functions of a producer so if you aren't going to produce, you shouldn't worry about it. If you ARE going to produce, then you need to identify budget, feasibility, etc. and possibly do initial packaging and attachments. You would then raise the money yourself, of sell the concept in full or in part to another production company. Title is interesting, but not necessarily a consideration at any time before release.
