The pitches I send to producers get good reviews for the script interview (horror), but they all repeat the issue of the emotional side of the hero and unmentioned conflicts and focusing on the hero + the anti-hero. Why is this happening and what turns them off?
I could very well give you some pointers as a horror author myself.
What pointers
Often such general comments can leave anyone puzzled. I can read yours and see if I can guess what they want. And if you are confused, does that mean it's your fault?
No. Paid pitches rarely get SPECIFIC comments.
"I did not identify with the hero."
???
And what is suggested to actually FIX this issue? Nothing.
It might be that they are not actually turned off, they see promise that could be elevated by the inclusion of additional conflict, emotions and the dynamics and friction that creates for the protagonist.
