Screenwriting : Best way to get your work sold? by Ian Wolfe

Best way to get your work sold?

I'm bored right now, so I'm curious to hear everyone's thoughts on what's the best way to get your work represented, optioned, and sold? I've been trying a lot of methods throughout the years including inkTip, the Blacklist, querying production companies, and directly emailing producers and directors. I've had a few hits every now and than, but nothing concrete. Is there some secret I don't know about, or do I just have to keep trying?

Hey, Ian Wolfe. Keep trying. My biggest tip is network/build relationships (on Stage 32, on other platforms, and in person). It could lead to script requests, meeting requests, etc. Here are some blogs on networking: www.stage32.com/blog/tags/networking-41

And Stage 32 has in-person Meetups that are great for networking (www.stage32.com/meetups). If you don't see a Meetup in your area, you could start your own.

Something I do to pitch my scripts is post pages in the Your Stage Lounge (www.stage32.com/lounge/promotion), on Twitter/X, and on Instagram, like First Page Friday, Third Page Thursday, and Sneak Peek Sunday. I post loglines and script posters with the pages. Sometimes I post short pitches (like two-word pitches and three-word pitches) on social media.

Thanks! I'll give those all a shot and see where it goes!

You're welcome, Ian Wolfe. Hope they help and you sell your scripts!
