Introducing myself — Author & Screenwriter

Hello everyone, I’m Christos — author and screenwriter.

I’ve written a feature-length psychological and metaphysical horror screenplay titled HUMBABA, inspired by authentic Mesopotamian archaeology and myth.

My academic background in Theology, History & Archaeology allows me to merge ancient religious beliefs and ritual practices with metaphysical and supernatural horror.

Glad to connect with creators interested in supernatural or philosophical horror, psychological thrillers, and myth-inspired storytelling.

HUMBABA sounds interesting. What's it about?

Christos Stavropoulos

Hi Maurice, thank you for the welcome — I appreciate the links, they’re very helpful.

HUMBABA follows a professor of archaeology whose rational worldview collapses after he becomes involved in forbidden Mesopotamian rituals. As he performs extispicy — the real ancient divination through sacrificial entrails — the boundary between reason and the supernatural disappears, and a historically attested entity begins to intrude on his reality.

It’s a psychological descent into forbidden knowledge, faith, and the terror of believing you’ve discovered something real.

You're welcome, Christos Stavropoulos. Unique concept! You could post your script on your profile. Producers search profiles for projects. That and networking are how I sold four short scripts to a producer. Click the gear symbol in the top right-hand corner and select “Edit profile” in the drop-down menu. Scroll down to “Loglines” and click “Add/edit loglines” to the right of “Loglines.” You can also post your script on your profile this way: www.stage32.com/loglines (near the top where it says “Add a Logline”)

Welcome! Really cool that you can incorporate your knowledge in those subjects to your work!

Honestly, I prefer watching horror films in this style. Mesopotamia attracts my interest, so I enjoy these themes. I live in Turkey, and I would love to see how you portray these rituals.

Christos Stavropoulos

Hi Ebrar, thank you very much:)

I’m glad these themes interest you. Humbaba is known from the Epic of Gilgamesh, but according to archaeological sources, the distinctive “intestinal” depiction of his face in ancient artifacts suggests that he was worshipped by Mesopotamian cultures and was believed to offer guidance through extispicy – divination based on reading the entrails of a sacrifice. I incorporated this element into a modern setting in the film.

Hi Christos,

Your project HUMBABA immediately caught my attention the blend of Mesopotamian mythology, archaeology, and metaphysical horror opens up a truly fascinating sonic universe.

I’m a film composer and sound designer, creating cinematic, immersive soundscapes that merge acoustic instruments (violin, organic textures, ritual percussions, ethereal vocals) with deep electronic atmospheres. I’m particularly drawn to projects where the mystical, the sacred, and the supernatural intersect — which feels perfectly aligned with the spirit of your story.

I’d love to connect and talk about the sonic direction you envision for HUMBABA, and share some of my work with you.

Hi Patricia, thank you so much for your message.

HUMBABA is currently at the screenplay stage, and at this point I am primarily focused on finding a producer and moving into early development. Music will be an important part of its atmosphere, so I’ll listen to your work on Cosmic Call and YouTube to get a sense of your sonic world.

Thank you again for sharing your links and for your interest in the project.

Darrell Pennington

I find this topic incredibly interesting. As we have traveled the world I have appreciated all of the religious iconography and structures but I have been a bit bummed about finding so little occult sites, structures etc.....I had expected to find more of this. We will be hitting Central and South America in 2026 - if you have suggestions for occult related sites in these areas I would love to hear about them.

Christos Stavropoulos

Thanks for the comment, Darrell!

If ancient cults had built monuments easy for tourists to find, they wouldn’t have stayed secret for very long — haha.

Safe travels!

Darrell Pennington

Point well taken! We have transitioned from tourists to travelers so spending weeks or months in a spot, especially in 2026. Hopefully we make some discoveries!

Christos Stavropoulos

Wishing you many discoveries on your travels, Darrell:)
