Project Update: “The Diary and the Watch”. Open to Feedback and Guidance

I would like to share an update on my project — the historical Limited Series “The Diary and the Watch” (8–10 episodes), set against the events of the Titanic and the First World War. The Russian version of the script has already been completed, and I am now translating it into English in a UK-standard suitable for British historical drama, which the project is intended for.

The story is framed by the recollections of a British industrialist who survived the sinking of the Titanic and the First World War. The plot covers the events of the disaster and the war, exploring themes of social inequality, the inner conflict between duty and the heart, and attitudes towards homosexuality in early 20th-century Britain.

I have updated my profile, logline and project page — they now contain all the relevant and up-to-date information about the work. Historical accuracy is very important to me: the fictional narrative is woven into real historical events without contradicting established facts.

I am currently looking for people who may be interested in discussing the script’s concept and historical aspects, or offering informal professional feedback. I would also be grateful for advice on where an author can share information about such a project for free, particularly on platforms aimed at a British audience or focused on historical drama.

If the project interests you, and you are open to discussing the idea, its historical background, or sharing your experience with historical series — I would greatly appreciate your response.

Hi, Olga Burkova. I’m a Stage 32 Lounge Moderator. I wanted to let you know I moved your post from the Authoring & Playwriting Lounge to the Your Stage Lounge since you posted the same thing in the Screenwriting Lounge. Stage 32 doesn't want members posting the same thing in different discipline Lounges on the same day because it can clog up the Lounges and other members’ posts won’t be seen.

If you want to put a post in two discipline Lounges on the same day, change one of the posts significantly. Or you can put one post in a Lounge one day and put the same post in another Lounge on a different day.

Let me know if you have any questions.

Olga Burkova Hi Olga,

Your project sounds really interesting. I like how you mix personal conflict with big historical events — that’s never easy to do.

I’m not a historical drama specialist, but I enjoy character-driven stories, so your approach caught my attention.

Good luck with the next steps, it looks like a strong project.

Thank you, Maurice Vaughan. I'll keep this in mind for the future and edit my posts better.

Thank you, Darrell Pennington.

Hi, Philippe Jeanneteau. Thank you. I will definitely continue to work on it further.

Maurice Vaughan

You're welcome, Olga Burkova. Ok, thank you.

Scripts are fun to scale down to size. I have had new ideas come from trimming the pork from them.
