Happy Saturday Stage 32 Family!
I just wanted to reintroduce myself, as I like to do every so often. My name is Ryan, and I'm originally from Chicago! I've been here in Los Angeles for four, almost five, years now, and I am a screenwriter.
I started my first screenplay, the psychological thriller "Confidence," in 2023. I'm currently doing my third rewrite and final pass, focusing heavily on pacing and story beats. Soon after, I look forward to moving into the pitching stage and starting the process of looking for representation—ideally in a natural way through film festivals and networking events.
I started my second screenplay, entitled "One of Them," this past September, and I’m currently deep in character development. I love seeing this new story come to life!
As far as my writing, I approach every story with an undertone of mental health, as I'm a big believer in challenging both the viewer and myself to go inward. This thematic focus can be explored through the characters or the story itself.
I wish everyone here luck, and for any newcomers, welcome! This is a great community with so much valuable information and insight. I'm blessed to be a part of it.
Have a great weekend!

Hey, Ryan Wilford. Hope you're enjoying the weekend! Mental health is really important! I think there needs to be more movies, shows, etc. about it. I plan on writing a script about mental health.

Maurice Vaughan Thank you! And agreed—everything we do in life, and how we operate through it, starts in our mind. There are many fascinating stories that can be told around mental health.

Hi! Shaun Jackson Williams Patience is key. Be patient with the process and yourself. Have compassion for yourself as you learn new things; it’s okay not to know everything in the beginning. Be open to learning, evolving, and changing your process in real time. Embrace visibility and constructive judgment: critiques aren't bad; they are often necessary to reach the next level in your work. Create your own process and trust your pace; don't just replicate the path of others. Don't be afraid to take risks, and always remember to research, research, research.

Thank you! And definitely. You find things you never would've if you just stick to the original version lol, the rewrite is like the rebirth of your script. Michael Dzurak
You're welcome, Ryan Wilford. You're right. I might write an Action script about mental health.
