Introduce Yourself : "The Culling" Story is Looking for Screenwriters by Bob Gielow

"The Culling" Story is Looking for Screenwriters

A college administrator by day, I've figured out how to write a TV series pitch for "The Culling," including summaries for eight episodes and future seasons. Now, I am stymied at the prospect of writing the screenplays. Do you know someone who might have an interest in partnering on this project?

Here is what I am envisioning: “The Culling” explores how individuals and groups of people react as thousands of us float up into space every couple of weeks, never to be seen again. How might we all react when learning that alien beings are involved in these departures?

“The Culling” is a horizontal, hour-long science fiction mystery/drama series, filmed in the style of direct cinema, that documents a different group of present-day characters, and locations, each episode. While some of the storyline will be portrayed through point-of-view shots, much of it will be “reported” through fictional news broadcasts, social media videos, and “man on the street” interviews. One or more of the characters introduced in each episode will be seen as they are “culled” (e.g., floating and moving up into the atmosphere, or attempting to move up into the atmosphere while stuck inside a building).
