Introduce Yourself : Hello from a fledgling screenwriter by Dominic Hamon

Dominic Hamon

Hello from a fledgling screenwriter

Hello everyone!

I'm so excited to join this wonderful community. I'm an author and screenwriter (at least in my mind I am) focused on developing my skills and finishing projects.

I recently polished up a draft which I'm calling a "second draft" because I'm sure there's a lot more to do, and I'm eager to share my work and learn from others as I develop this and future projects.

I'm also a budding voice actor, which is something that grew out of character development and far more years than I care to define spent playing and D&D games.

Please reach out if you have questions about my current project (linked to my profile) or just want to say "hi".

All the best!

Dominic Hamon As one fledgling screenwriter to another, this community is the best for resources, cheerleading, and overall helping you find what you need to make things happen. Hey, gaming is art. These platforms need narrators, musicians, scriptwriters, and more. Every step takes you to the next one. After having just joined half the world in watching the last episode of Stranger Things, combining gaming and entertainment is never a bad thing. Congrats on developing a script.

Ashley Renée Smith

Hi, Dominic Hamon, welcome to Stage 32. I’m Ashley Smith, Head of Community here, and I’m really glad you jumped in and shared where you’re at creatively.

First of all, calling it a “second draft” is exactly the right mindset. Finishing a draft and polishing it already puts you miles ahead of where most people get stuck. The fact that you’re eager to share, learn, and keep shaping the work is where real growth happens. And I love that your voice acting interest grew organically out of character development and years of D&D. That background makes so much sense, especially when it comes to understanding voice, motivation, and emotional truth on the page.

You’ll likely feel very at home in the Screenwriting Lounge (https://www.stage32.com/lounge/screenwriting), where writers at every stage are talking craft, drafts, and development in real time. Since you’re also exploring voice acting, the Acting Lounge (https://www.stage32.com/lounge/acting) can be a great place to connect with performers and learn how actors approach character from the inside out. And if you start thinking about where your projects could go next, the Filmmaking Lounge (https://www.stage32.com/lounge/directing) is a good space to see how scripts translate to screen.

If you’re actively writing and want more structured support, accountability, and networking with other writers, you may want to check out the Stage 32 Writer’s Room. There’s a free month available, and it gives you access to pitch practice, working professionals, and deeper craft conversations: https://www.stage32.com/writers-room/plans-vip.

Since you mentioned developing skills and learning as you go, our Education Team is also a great resource. If you email (Edu@Stage32.com) and tell them where you’re at and what you’re working on, they can recommend specific webinars or classes from our 3,000+ hours of on-demand education that fit your goals. And once you’re ready to think about next steps for a particular project, our Success Team at (Success@Stage32.com) can help point you toward curated resources and the right kinds of professional opportunities.

Abu Success

Congrats on your new book! What sparked the idea for it, and what do you hope readers will walk away with after reading?

Dominic Hamon

What a great question, Abu Success . I've always been a fan of greek mythology, and I've been obsessed with the idea of Cassandra (cursed to have accurate prophesies, but to never be believed) and how this reflects experiences of modern women. Bringing that story into modern times I hope can highlight those experiences, but also just how little movement there's been through the ages. I am aware of being male and telling this story, so one of the things I'm looking for is feedback from women on the screenplay, specifically how the women in the screenplay talk.

Elle Bolan

Hi Dominic! Welcome to Stage 32! I love this idea you have surrounding Cassandra. I'd be interested in how you decide to modernize that story. I'm very glad you joined us here! I look forward to seeing more about your work.
