Remember how we used to play with toys as kids? And we would recreate scenes or imagine new ones with the toys?
I almost wonder if that needs to happen again lol. It’s not really a thing on this side of the world, but in Japan figurines are still fairly popular and can get quite expensive, too (helps that they’re often extremely well-made). Who doesn’t get ideas playing with dolls and toys even incidentally?
Would you want figurines made of your characters to be admired in glass cases? Or even for kids and kids-at-heart to play with and even see what kinds of stories they come up with and share? I think that would be neat.

I'd like figurines made of my characters for collectors and kids, Banafsheh Esmailzadeh. I put a note/page about toys and other merchandise in my pitch material for some of my scripts.

Oh lovely Maurice Vaughan, and thanks for letting me know I can do this in my pitch materials. I might design some toys and figurines.

You're welcome, Banafsheh Esmailzadeh. Designing toys and figurines is a great idea! And who knows? A producer, director, etc. might see them and get interested in reading your work.

Wow, I love the idea.
I’ve been thinking about merchandise for my worlds. It would be incredibly satisfying to see someone wearing clothing inspired by my characters, or quotes that reflect each world’s lessons and vibes.
Dolls feel especially fitting for my fantasy characters.

I would absolutely love seeing it as a toy Banafsheh Esmailzadeh, and LEGO feels like the perfect fit given how they’ve historically expanded stories through transmedia rather than just merchandise. The value they added to Star Wars through LEGO storytelling is something I’ve always admired.

@Banafsheh I’d be up for the figurine characters & any merch, clothes, handbags etc. LOL Wishful thinking on my part. Toys were, kind of, original Transmedia prior to actual word invented. (As you point out.) I collect Retro items. Had 50’s dolls mimicking human’s doing stuff & 90’s Tamagotchi’s asking for steamed buns after I did their toilet duties. AI robots do martial arts. I’ve a vintage noir, a pipe dream, is educational 1946 interactive dolls.

For some projects, absolutely. I could see a lot of merch coming out of a sci-fi... endeavor I have planned. Toys, collectibles, artwork and prints, even cosplay and costuming.
I just gotta get to that project. One or five things at a time.
