Hi everyone,
I'm Bart, a Polish screenwriter developing a spec feature about 90 to 120 pages long. It kind of mixes satire with psychological drama and some meta comedy elements. I think it's interesting how those blend together.
The logline is still an early version, but improved than before. "A young Polish civil servant is abducted into a surreal Hollywood empire ruled by an Empress of celebrities, where he must survive absurd trials and confront his own self-doubt to escape the world's narrative control."
The script looks at themes such as Hollywood being this self governing narrative system. Then there's identity versus visibility. Also it can be found resistance to branding and myth making. And humor as a way to defend yourself honesty as rebellion. I might be oversimplifying some of that.
Tone-wise it's closer ti "Being John Malkovich" or "The Truman Show" and "Birdman", but with a more modern edge that's aware of the Internet stuff.
I'm not ready to pitch this yet. Just want to connect with other writers or creatives or maybe producers who like meta storytelling. Open to discussing the concept or sharing ideas on tone and structure. Or even just exchanging views on writing about the industry itself. That seems like the part that stands out to me.
Feel free to chat in comments or DMs. Thanks for reading.
Bart
