Your Stage : Closing a chapter — and preparing the next one for Armstrong-D.U. by Alex Olguin

Closing a chapter — and preparing the next one for Armstrong-D.U.

These three pieces represent the emotional core of the story for me:

imagination, trust, and freedom.

After submitting the screenplay to PAGE and spending the last months refining the animatic and pitch materials, I wanted to share where the heart of this project truly lives — not in spectacle, but in the quiet relationship between a boy and a machine learning how to be human.

Armstrong-D.U. began as a very personal idea, and through feedback, conversations, and challenges here on Stage 32, it gradually found its voice and shape.

I’m now taking a short step back to focus on strengthening the pitch package and visual world before moving into the next phase of the project.

Thank you to everyone who has been part of this journey so far. Your insights have genuinely shaped the work.

Logline:

In a hyper-controlled future where an AI enforces safety by suppressing human instinct, a

disabled boy awakens a long-buried military combat robot and must hide it from the system,

unwittingly challenging the rules that govern his world and risking his own freedom.

***

A love letter to classic heroes, through the eyes of an imaginative child told through the

limitless heart and beauty of animation.

I love these pieces, Alex Olguin, especially the last one!

I love the artwork and character design, Alex Olguin ! When pitching, you can reference "The Iron Giant" as the boy/robot relationship is what makes your story similar. Studios like to be able to reference familiar movies. And your adding AI to the story is very timely too.

William Joseph Hill In fact I have a full on pitch deck with a pitch document that defines this as The Iron Giant meets 1984 (George Orwell). It's a satirical comentary con parenthood, since the parents of the main character are also very interesting too, specially the dad. But if anyone wants to check the package I'm open to share it. Thanks by the way, I really worked hard to make the drawings show what I needed them to, a gentle giant and a vulnerable but energetic kid.
