Your Stage : Friday the 13th Fan Fiction Screenplay by Maurice Vaughan

Friday the 13th Fan Fiction Screenplay

I'm just writing this script for fun.

After a tech company buys Camp Crystal Lake, the estranged CEO, her rebellious son, and his friends fight to survive against Jason while uncovering dark secrets from 1935.

I can totally understand doing that. I'm writing a miniseries version of I Know What You Did Last Summer for my own experimentation (and following the book tone, so no slasher figure with a hook).

Diana Levin

Friend we have to do a script swap because I can’t read the page clearly.

That's cool, Samuel Lebow. And it's great practice. I'm a fan of the first two movies. I didn't know there was a book.

Hi, Diana Levin. Sorry that it's blurry. I might start posting the text instead of a screenshot.

I have a lot on my plate with projects, being a Stage 32 Lounge Moderator, reading scripts, and other things, but I can let you know when I have time to do a script swap with you.

Thanks Maurice Vaughan. The book's a different beast. Aside from the slasher element not being present, there is a twist that is difficult on film, but I have a work around for it that fits within the context of modern times compared to the original novel, which was written in the 1970s (most copies have been updated but I still have an original copy). Just knowing that plus, some of the storytelling decisions affect pacing or are just storytelling dead zones (for example, an entire character spends much of the book in the hospital which handicaps the story in many ways), so I'll make changes to accommodate it.

You're welcome, Samuel Lebow. I'll check out the books. Thanks for letting me know. Keep me posted on your miniseries.

No problem, Maurice Vaughan. It's only one book and I can say the author hated the films due to the slasher element being added in (her daughter was murdered so it would touch nerve understandably so). That's said, the book is relatively short as it's only around 199 pages or so depending on the edition.

In terms of adapting, I plan to make my own changes such as the order of some events here and there with the idea of writing 3-4 episodes. Not to mention the above storytelling issue regarding a hospital setting and how much of the characters interact versus being spread apart for their own stories.

Right now, I'm planning to use the first 6 chapters as the basis for episode 1 as the incident of what happened really isn't established until very late otherwise. Right now, I'm looking to use chapter 1 as the opening 5 minutes and then using one of the later chapters to go into flashback right away for 10-15 minutes with some additional details.

It's a tricky novel to adapt because of the exposition so I'm making some shifts with that in mind as well.
