Published Author from Budapest – Adapting High-Concept Sci-Fi "2084"

Hi Everyone! I’m Arpad, a published author from Budapest, currently adapting my high-concept sci-fi novel '2084' into a limited series.

Think Blade Runner meets 1984, but with a modern twist on AI and biometric control. I’ve just finished the first scenes of the pilot script and I'm looking to connect with producers and fellow writers who love thought-provoking world-building.

I’ve been having some fascinating discussions with industry professionals here lately, and I’m excited to dive deeper into this community. If you love sci-fi or 'book-to-screen' projects, let’s connect!

Maurice Vaughan

Hi, Arpad Vaczi! How's the limited series coming along?

Leonardo Ramirez

Wow, Arpad Vaczi - "Blade Runner" meets "1984" sounds incredibly interesting! Excited to hear more!

Arpad Vaczi

Hi Maurice!

Thanks for asking. It’s coming along great - I’ve just transitioned from the final polish of the novel to the pilot script.

I'm currently working on the first ten pages, focusing on translating the high-concept world-building into a visual, cinematic experience. It’s a complex political thriller where the stakes go from a small apartment to an interstellar ark. I’m actually quite excited about how the 'unfilmable' internal conflicts of the book are turning into high-tension action on the page.

How about you? Are you seeing much interest in high-concept sci-fi on the platform lately?

Arpad Vaczi

Thanks, Leonardo! It’s a project close to my heart. The goal is to explore that thin line between security and total surveillance.

What makes '2084' unique is the political 'False Flag' element—where the very hope for humanity's survival (an interstellar Ark) is weaponized by a coup-leader to seize absolute power. It’s as much a political thriller as it is a sci-fi.

I've just started sharing the opening scenes with some industry folks, and the feedback on the world-building has been very encouraging. Great to connect with you!

Leonardo Ramirez

Great to connect with you as well Arpad Vaczi. I just checked out your logline and it looks great. The premise sounds incredible and something I would definitely watch.

your subject matter is fascinating! I know a ton of people here in the Stage 32 community that I’m sure would be great collaborators with you. I’m glad to hear that you’ve connected with some great like-minded people already. I see that you’re from Budapest. That’s one of my favorite creative capitals of the world. We’ve had several Stage 32 contest winners come out of Budapest. Do you find that you are inspired in your local creative community?

Lauren Hackney

Welcome! For me I love the open houses and hanging out in the lounges. There are so many people willing to help and assist in this community. And check out the blogs - you wont be disappointed. Great to meet you and welcome!

Arpad Vaczi

Dear Amanda,

Thank you so much for the warm welcome! It’s wonderful to hear that Budapest holds a special place in your heart - it is indeed a city of deep shadows and bright creative sparks. I’m actually familiar with Metaphorms, so it’s great to connect with someone who truly understands the unique atmosphere of our local film scene.

To answer your question: yes, Budapest is a constant source of inspiration, especially its architectural mix of history and futurism, which heavily influenced the 'Sanitized Terror' aesthetic of 2084. However, as I’m transitioning my novel into a series, I find that the Stage 32 community is providing the exact global perspective I need to scale the story for an international audience.

I’ve already had some fantastic interactions with Geoff and the Success Team here. I’m looking forward to diving deeper into the community and hopefully collaborating with some of those great people you mentioned.

Warm regards,

Arpad

Hi Lauren,

Thank you for the warm welcome! I see you’re navigating the same path I am, balancing the world of books and screenwriting. Looking forward to seeing you around the lounges!

That sounds like a cool new take on a classic story.

Welcome, Arpad! Transitioning from a novel to a limited series is a huge undertaking. I really resonate with your focus on 'thought-provoking world-building'. For our current series, The Phoenix, we actually mapped out a 4-season roadmap early on to ensure our biometric and tech-lore had enough 'legs' for a long-term arc. It sounds like 2084 has that same 'Prestige' weight. Let's connect!

Vital Butinar

Hi neighbor and welcome.

Sounds like you've got a cool project! Congrats.

It's funny I've actually also been working on a sci-fi screenplay, that while a standalone project could just as well live in the Blade runner universe, but if focuses on the small people that live in that kind of world and their struggle with life.
