On Writing : From Exile to Hope – Seeking Feedback From Fellow Writers by Saad Hmaidawi

From Exile to Hope – Seeking Feedback From Fellow Writers

Hello everyone,

I'm a screenwriter and novelist based in Canada.

I recently published a poetic novel titled The Ones Who Waited For Tomorrow.

The story explores exile, survival, inner conflict, and hope after loss.

I would sincerely appreciate honest feedback from fellow writers here.

If anyone is open to reading or exchanging thoughts, I would be grateful.

Thank you for your time.

Hi, Saad Hmaidawi. Welcome to the community. Congratulations on publishing The Ones Who Waited For Tomorrow!

Stage 32 has a blog that'll help you navigate the platform and connect with creatives and industry professionals all over the world. www.stage32.com/blog/how-to-successfully-navigate-the-stage-32-platform-...

This month’s Community Open House is the 25th. It'll also help you navigate the platform and make connections. You can ask questions live. www.stage32.com/education/products/stage-32s-february-2026-community-ope...

I suggest using a photo of yourself as your profile picture. People will feel more comfortable networking and collaborating with you if they know what you look like. You can upload a picture by clicking the gear symbol in the top right-hand corner and selecting “Edit profile” in the drop-down menu, then clicking the red button underneath your location and choosing "Update profile picture."

You could post your scripts on your profile. Other members can give feedback on them, and producers search profiles for projects. That and networking are how I sold four short scripts to a producer. Click the gear symbol in the top right-hand corner and select “Edit profile” in the drop-down menu. Scroll down to “Loglines” and click “Add/edit loglines” to the right of “Loglines.” You can also post your scripts on your profile this way: www.stage32.com/loglines (near the top where it says “Add a Logline”)

You might be able to post your novels on your profile too. I'm not sure how big your novel files are. You could try though.

Saad, what would be helpful is learning to write a logline. Stage 32 has plenty of articles and webinars to help you.

Thank you, Maurice. I appreciate the warm welcome and the guidance. Looking forward to connecting and contributing to the community.

Thank yo debra That’s great advice. I’m actively working on crafting a strong logline for my novel adaptation and studying the Stage 32 resources to sharpen it. I truly appreciate the guidance.

You're welcome, Saad Hmaidawi. I second what Debra said. Christopher Lockhart has a great webinar on loglines called “How To Make Your Logline Attractive to A-List Actors, Producers, Directors, Managers, Agents, Financiers and Development Execs.” www.stage32.com/webinars/How-To-Make-Your-Logline-Attractive-to-A-List-A...

Thank you, Maurice. I truly appreciate the recommendation. I’ve refined my logline and would love to hear your thoughts:

After escaping a ruthless political regime that destroyed his past, a haunted exile must decide whether to rebuild his life in silence — or risk everything to confront the system that still controls his future.

Maurice Vaughan

You're welcome, Saad Hmaidawi. That sounds interesting. The first part of your logline is strong, but I suggest not using "must decide" in a logline. I suggest telling the goal and the stakes instead. I also think "that still controls his future" is vague. How do they control his future?
