Cinematography : Previs Pro by Michael Fitzer, Mfa

Previs Pro

With several locations secured, I'm starting work on the basic lighting designs for my next feature. I'm using Previs Pro to create the storyboards, and through the program's 3D architecture, I can start roughing in a simple lighting approach for each setup.

Because we're operating on a fairly low budget for this indie, doing this 3D advance work lets me think through my setups and make my needs list without spending hours taking notes at a physical location. I sit in the comfort of my office or my couch at home and get to work.

What tools do you use to pre-visualize your setups? Have you tried Previs Pro? Comment below.

Cool Michael Fitzer, Mfa ! I can't believe I just saw this now. I haven't used Previs Pro, in fact, eh hem... this is the first I am hearing of it. For previs, especially in the field (location, on the fly) I tend to sketch things out like a toddler's stick drawings, drawing lines to figure out what might need light and where I might put the cam. Storyboarding... sounds like you're more than just DP on this project. I'd love to know more about it.
