I recently pitched my Indigenous-themed, horror screenplay to a Canadian producer. He liked it and requested the script. Some questions he asked, "Do you have a pitch deck?", "Do you have any leads on possible production funding?", "It looks like it could be a TV series. Do you have a series bible?", "Who do you think should play the lead characters?". I was able to provide positive answers to 3 questions except the funding query. Pitching is fun!
It was recommended. It is a tough market for me. I get two passes from literary managers to Hollywood executives. I envy you.
I wondered if I could show fan fiction script or logline and Hollywood treatment of my fan fiction script to producers it was a spin off from Buffy the vampire slayer. Since he is dead. It would have been cool to let producers read it right now. Read the fan fiction logline and Hollywood treatment. I like to get their opinion for fun. They can pass on the script. At least I like to hear their opinion.
Hey @Bobby Cinema, Keep at it.

Congrats on the script request!
How long have you been pitching your work? Do you feel like something has shifted in the way you prepare, or have you always felt naturally comfortable?
Thank you.
A long time. I am 46 and started writing movies and books until I was 24. Never sold a one. It is a tough market.

In regard to "has something shifted in my pitch process, I'd say, yes. When I pay and sign up to pitch someone I'm given 4 minutes: 2 minutes to pitch and 2 minutes to answer questions. Recently though, I'm from Canada, the Canadian producers reached out to me! One pitch session was 45 minutes over lunch (I didn't eat much) and a second Canadian producer gave me an hour over ZOOM. The second producer requested the script and just yesterday he contacted me with 3 positive responsives from other production companies. His words were, "We're going to get this thing produced!" So, more time to pitch is my secret....I guess. Good luck all!
Gerald, thanks for sharing the great news...and here's to plenty of success with the screenplay you recently pitched (and your other works, too)!
