My first short psychological thriller "The Bystander"

Hey Stage 32!

I’m really happy to finally share my new short script "The Bystander" — a psychological thriller/drama.

Logline:

After fleeing a classmate’s brutal murder to protect himself, a guilt-ridden teenager’s web of lies collapses when his silence leads the killer straight to his best friend — forcing him to stop running and face the devastating cost of his cowardice.

It’s a tense, atmospheric story about the bystander effect, guilt, and the price of doing nothing. Everything takes place over the course of one day in a small town — very contained and perfect for a low-budget production.

The full script, synopsis, and poster are already attached to my profile. I’ve also added a screenshot of the first page here so you can feel the tone right away.

I’d really appreciate any honest feedback, notes, or thoughts from directors, producers, or fellow writers. This is my first completed short film script, so I’m genuinely open to criticism and suggestions.

Thank you so much in advance for reading and for your support!

Arlane Whitmore

Hi Mikhail,

I’m a book editor by profession. I spend most of my time working with writing that already has something working in it, but isn’t fully translating on the page yet. That tends to show up in scripts too, especially in how scenes turn and what they leave behind.

I’m not reaching out to offer anything. I just pay attention when something is this close, and I respect the kind of work that goes into it.

Are you in the middle of something right now or taking time between projects?
