Hi everyone, my name is Anthony Neri, I'm 23 years old based in Worcester, MA. I am a narrative and commercial director, DP, and editor with 4.5 years of experience. I am now getting ready to make my first feature, which I will be directing, shooting, and editing. It is honestly scary to make this leap, but it's something I just have to do as it's been a dream of mine. M y writing isn't up to par with the rest of my skills yet, so I got connected with writers and asked them to send me micro-budget thriller scripts. I have about 35 screenplays to choose from so far. I plan to secure distribution for the film, generate some revenue from it, and use this as a calling card in the industry.
I believe my strengths are being fast and effective when shooting, using and shaping natural light, I grew up on social media, so I have a knack for that kind of marketing, which I hope will help promote the movie. People say I'm good at capturing performances on camera(I don't really know what that means).
The biggest downside is that I have never really worked with a crew, I'm usually shooting by myself, and although this will be a very small crew it'll still be different than what I'm used to, and I have mainly worked with non actors throughout my career.
Do you guys have any advice for this process?
What to look for when choosing a script and how to choose the best script available to me?
How can I make this the best movie I can possibly make right now?
Any advice on what to do after the film is finished to hopefully make some money and be able to make more movies?
How can I get some funding for this movie? This part isn't as important because I am going to do it with the money I have if I am not able to get any fundraising anywyas.
I know this is delusional but I might never get the chance to make a feature if I keep waiting around.
