Writer and Producer Building Supernatural, Horror, and Thriller Projects

Hi everyone,

My name is Tommy Gunns. I am a writer, producer, creator, and founder of Tommy Gunns Productions.

I develop and package original film and television projects across supernatural thriller, horror, crime, comedy, drama, action, reality television, and character driven series. My focus right now is moving my projects beyond the packaging stage and toward executive producer attachments, financing, production partners, cast attachments, and production.

My current slate includes The Last Angel, a grounded supernatural noir series, Haven, a fantasy mystery set inside a retirement community where the humans are the real monsters, Dead Men Do Tell Tales, a paranormal reality series, The Car Lot, a workplace comedy series, and Ghost Dance: Massacre, a supernatural horror thriller I am producing with Bagh Films.

I also work as a producer on select projects with Bagh Films and I am represented by Global Talent Agency for packaging and talent outreach.

I am here to connect with executive producers, financiers, production companies, co-production partners, sales agents, distributors, and other filmmakers who are serious about building strong projects and moving them toward production.

Looking forward to meeting more people here and connecting with the Stage 32 community.

Hey Tommy Morrison - it's an honor to meet you. Hope you're doing well. Congratulations on all your work. I happen to have an IP that started out being called "Haven" as well but later changed it to "Haven of Dante" after I heard about the Stephen King series. "The Last Angel" sounds incredible.

Be sure to stop by the screenwriting lounge and get to know some of your fellow scribes: https://www.stage32.com/lounge/screenwriting

Also, here’s a great post that will help you navigate Stage 32: https://www.stage32.com/blog/how-to-successfully-navigate-the-stage-32-p...

Hope you're having a great weekend Tommy. Glad you're with us!

Tommy Morrison

Thank you so much for the kind message. It is an honor to meet you as well, and I really appreciate the welcome.

I did know there was another show called Haven, and I have been thinking about whether I should change the title. My version started from the idea of a moody, run-down coastal town where monsters, creatures, and legends go to retire from being what they once were. To them, the town really is a haven because they are trying to live peacefully and almost human. The twist is that the real monsters are often the people around them.

The Last Angel is also a project very close to me, and I am grateful it is starting to get some notice with a strong team behind it. I dream of seeing it made one day and I am doing everything I can to move it forward.

Thank you again for reaching out. I would be happy to connect and keep in touch here on Stage 32.

Best,

Tommy Gunns

Roberto Micheletti

Welcome, Tommy! you've got an impressive lineup of projects. I'm a writer/actor with a slate that includes character-driven thrillers as well.

Looking forward to seeing what you bring to the community.

Tommy Morrison

Thank you, Roberto. I really appreciate the kind words.

Likewise, I hope for your success too. I would love to learn more about your projects and see what you are building with your slate.

Right now, the hardest part for me is moving these projects forward and finding the right seed money, executive producers, and production partners. Each project is at a different stage, but I am doing my best to keep pushing them toward production.

Glad to connect with you here.

Tommy Morrison - I feel like your reasoning behind the name makes more sense than the Stephen King show, to be honest. And if I remember correctly, the name of the book was "The Colorado Kid". The way you've applied it makes sense. Would love to stay in touch Tommy. Love what you're doing.

Cal Mazzara

Hey Tommy, great to meet you here! Quick question for you. The story I just finished on face value looks like a horror genre but the story is much more emotional than a typical horror story. What advice would you give for a story like that when pitching it? In other words, it’s a genre bender.

Tommy Morrison

Hey Cal,

What a great question, and thank you for asking me.

I think the emotional core is what drives the audience to care, and the horror is what puts pressure on that emotion.

I would have to know the full story to say exactly what drives it, so I may be a little off the beaten path, but in a few words, I would look for the emotional engine underneath the horror. Is it grief, family, guilt, love, survival, forgiveness, or someone trying to protect what matters most?

The horror can be the twist, the danger, or the outside force, but the heart of the story is what gives it layers. Emotion makes us care. Horror makes us afraid. Together, they make us stay.

That emotional engine can hold the story together, while the horror adds the tension, mystery, and fear around it. That is what can make it feel deeper than just a straight horror story.

That is why I think horror is such a strong genre to bend. It is almost like vodka. It can mix with almost anything if the emotional core is strong enough.

Hello Tommy. Not sure if you're interested in my retro horror script. I own full rights to the book. I had some talks a while back with a producer called Marty Katz about it sadly he couldn't take this on himself to produce. Script was was a semi finalist in the Stage 32 Screenwriting competition for 2017. Scored 8 on blacklist. Winter 2024 ISA Top Reads selection. Reach out if interested. Your project 'the car lot' sounds very good. I used to sell cars when in uni and often said to co-workers someone could make a tv show based on all our work stories and experiences.

Snehil Mishra

Hi! My name is Snehil. I am based out of Mumbai,India. I am a writer. I am currently trying to pitch my screenplay titled, She Sells Sea Shells By The Sea Shore. Great to meet all of you. Thank you

Cal Mazzara

Thanks Tommy, that is some good feedback. I'm just about finished with the final draft. Going over one more pass. To give you an idea on the story I do have a pitch deck video. Let me know what you think. If you can share any feedback on it, I'd welcome any and all comments. Thanks again :)

HiTommy Morrison. You are in the right place to develop this further. The Stage 32 community is full of writers, filmmakers, and industry professionals who understand ambitious, genre-blending work — and there are resources here specifically designed to help you find the right path forward.

The Screenwriting Lounge is a great place to connect with fellow writers right away: https://www.stage32.com/lounge/screenwriting.

On July 1st, Stage 32 is hosting a free webcast with the Association of Film Commissioners International (AFCI), where Marjorie Galas will explain how film commissions can help productions save time, money, and resources. It's a valuable opportunity for anyone interested in how projects move from development into production: https://www.stage32.com/education/products/how-to-be-an-effective-film-c.... If you're looking for representation, the Success Team at: Success@Stage32.com can help recommend executives, managers, and Stage 32 services that best fit your screenplay and career goals.

Looking forward to seeing where your journey goes!

Hi Tommy Morrison your work is so creative to be honest but without a creative set designer to pour our your think and mindset into your work to the audience when performing the audience could not fell the intensity of your work so you need a good graphic designer which I am so if you want that you can Dm me for your great film production

Tommy Morrison

Hi Shadow, thank you for reaching out. I appreciate it. I sent you a connection request, but it looks like I cannot DM you yet until it is accepted.

I would definitely like to explore the possible synergy with HorrorxScifi.com and the Independent Producers Guild. My projects in the horror, supernatural, thriller, and dark fantasy lane include Ghost Dance, The Last Angel, Haven, and Dead Men Do Tell Tales on the paranormal unscripted side.

Thank you again, and I look forward to connecting.
