Hi All. I'm looking for feedback, encouragement, any words of wisdom, and potential connections to someone this may be greatly important to.
I'm in post production of our feature doc "Forgetting To Remember" which follows my way too young, way too fun, ruggedly handsome friend, Luke. A young father, diagnosed at 45, racing against dementia to pursue a death with dignity while he still has capacity and cognitive ability. As this disease grips him tighter, the window of opportunity shrinks for him to pursue his only option for Medical Aid in Dying...in Switzerland.
How will he know "when" is a pressing question, but more importantly, what happens if he forgets to remember that this is his desire? He hopes to leave a legacy, turning his pain into purpose with "LUKE'S LAW" to pave a way for all in early diagnosis of terminal neurological diseases with long term suffering ahead to have advance directive access to MAiD for a peaceful ending...until there is a cure!
I have turned myself into a 501c3 Non-Profit for this cause and more to come and we are currently using Crowdfunder as our main path to funding.
***Please check out our 3min teaser on our website, "ForgettingToRemember.com" and see the drop down menu for News/Media we have done and our "Kick Azheimer's in the Balzheimer's" Merch Store as well.
And then...any thoughts to help get us across the finish line???

What an absolutely horrendous story but the legacy of this doc can't be overestimated. Good luck Brent Roberts, Luke, and all. I hope there is a benefactor out there who is willing to fund whatever you need.

Thank you David Hall, it is a giant crock of WTF...including the 50% chance his children have receiving the same gene that has been in their family for 5 generations. Mother in her 50's. And his sister passed in her 50's during production. This disease sucks so much. But we have made this film fun as hell, because Luke is. Suck It Alz surprise party with pole dancers and shots, Drag Bingo in Hollywood with Seth & Lauren Rogen, Casket Confessions talk show, and just following this squirrel of a human being living the rest of his days as the best of his days, laughing as hard as we can...until we can't. :)
This isn't my line at all and I'm not sure if it's much help but I researched a few grant makers that seemed appropriate - 1) The Rogovy Foundation (Miller / Packan Film Fund (www.rogorvy.org)), 2) The Redford Center Grants (www.redfordcenter.ord), 3)IDA Enterprise Documentary Fund - as I say, it might not be much use but happy to promote in any way I can!
Brent Roberts I agree. It was hard enough to see my father in law go through similar in much later life but this is awful. I'm heading over to have a look at the teaser - it sounds fun, much like LUKE. You're a wonderful friend! Let me know if I can help in any way.
