Anything Goes : Unique Amature Theatre Under Threat of Closure! by Becki Short

Hi All, There is an amature theatre near me in Southsea, Portsmouth, which is under threat of closure, due to the church it is attached to merging with another. It is a beautiful little place, and really unique, as it's one of only six amature theatres in the UK with a fly tower. The church have told the theatre users that the theatre will shut at the end of 2012, with an exception for the Phoenix Players pantomime in January. We are currently trying to find out what will be happening with the building after then, as if they are planning on selling it, we want to put in a community bid, however at the moment they are not saying anything. We are currently trying to get as many signatures on the petition as possible, so we can take that to the council to see if we can get them involved.
