Screenwriting : From book to screenplay by Tony Bertot

From book to screenplay

I am the author of four books. My first three books make up the Assassin Trilogy and I think it would make a great TV series or movie. So how do I get it to a screenplay at a reasonable cost? I am retired and on a fixed income and have scaled back significantly on my marketing efforts because of financial restraints. Anyone have any suggestions?

Just pitch it to screenwriters. In my experience, and no disrespect at all intended, most novelists do not adapt their work well themselves to script. I would find someone, have them read your novels, and see if they're interested. Once scripts are finished, then it's a matter of networking and selling. Depending on the success of your books, you'll attract various levels of screenwriters. The higher up the ladder, the more money it will cost you initially. If you find an 'unknown', then maybe you get it done on spec for a back-end %, that's between you and the writer.
