Does anyone know of agents who rep books for film?

Since my memoir, HERE I STAND, was published in Feb. 2012, four Hollywood producers have expressed interest in turning it into a feature film. My book tells of my upbringing as a young, African-American woman, raised by my white stepfather, who was a member of the Philadelphia Italian Mafia. I want to know if any of you know an agent(s) who would be interested in taking me on as a client and to rep my book? I don't feel I have the experience or knowledge to deal with Hollywood producers without getting the short end of the stick.

Chris H Stevenson

Hi, Jillian. Just about every legit, known agent has the capacity and knowledge to rep and submit books to film. All three of my agents had/have this talent and experience. You have only to query them and explain your situation with a prospective agent. You can find agents on Angentquery.com, for example, or find them in the hardcopy edition of Writers Market. It sounds like you have a worthwhile project there, and should have no problems landing a decent agent, to handle the particulars.

Thanks Chris.

I also like your idea and will give it to my agent mrateringg@hotmail.com

Mark, that would be great. Thank you. If anyone wants to read an excerpt from the book, go to www.jaguarsportsentertainment.com

Jill You should turn this into a screenplay. It's better for you to be a part of it and have some control.

I already wrote the screenplay. I've sold two scripts already to independent producers, so I figured who best to turn my book into a script than me, right? So if an agent wants to see the book and/or script I'm ready. Just need to get it into the hands of the right producer. Four Hollywood producers have expressed interest in my story, but I couldn't make a deal with any of them for various reasons. I feel if I have an agent repping me I wouldn't get taken advantage of and he would get me a better deal.

may I read the script

In your local library or bookstore they have a book called The Writers Market index and Novel and Short story market book, they have a lot of info about agents.
