What do you mean by "a somebody"? Do you mean can a person become world famous with no previous experience? And by "training" do you mean formal training as in school? Or do you mean learning while doing?

I mean do you think someone can make good without ever been trained at acting school ? A somebody i mean as in successful in acting ? and good evening Rik :)

I very much believe that someone can be a good actor without acting school. I very much believe that someone can be successful in acting without acting school. Gaining experience is important. Working with actors and directors and writers is essential.

Artistic talent is inherent! Some people have great instincts in regards to acting, which can be stronger than the even best training. Your best is a mixture of both, for with training grows confidence. Best wishes for obtaining your dreams, whatever they be! >^.,.^<

Thank you Rik and Devorah. So recently i was asked to star in a online drama, I have never acted before other than like i say my different life. It was something i had always wanted to do and my want had grew when i went on tv in front of 8 million live viewers talking about my life i had no fear or no thoughts there were even camers there. Well i am not one to big myself up as i am still a nobody in this industry, but i found on doing this drama i had no need to rehearse the script i just looked at it before that scene was filmed and knew exactly what i should do and say and only needed to re take a coule of times throughout the shows. I wont mention the dramas name as the editing, camera work was awful to say the least I found i could turn emotion on and off as needed, So with all this expert network here i would like to know ? how can one get noticed enough to be taken seriously when no one wants to know a nobody in the first place ? Funds and work stop me going to acting classes and parts in local things is very limited where i live. Many thanks if anyone can answer this.

So you have already answered part of your question by experience. You have starred in a drama without any acting classes. So you know it can be done. Now you need to go to more auditions. That's how you get noticed enough to be taken seriously. You are so very wrong about this "nobody" issue you have stick in your head. You seem to be the only person who thinks you're a nobody and no one wants to know a nobody. Once you finally get overcome that issue you will be free to pursue your acting in a more open way. So go out an audition for everything you can. Since you are a natural born entertainer people will notice - but the need to see you. So get out there and audition!

Well Melissa! All I can say is have a look at one of my reels,SEDLEX,I play the detective called Forbes.The person that wrote the whole story is a friend of mine,he called my one morning and asked me to come and see him,I read the script,said the lines,got the part,did everything first take,got on my bike and drove home. I've never been in front of a camera before to act,nor say anything,so there you have it in living proof......if I can do it then you certainly can,don't think about training,classes....just get the part and do it as best you see fit. Now if we were in a burning aircraft and plummeting to the ground and you said,"Hey I can have a go at saving the plane and all the 150 passengers on board.....even if I've never flown a plane in my life...I can just feel that I can do this!"......then I might take the guy with the uniform on with wings sewn to his sleeve....even if he was half conscious and bleeding heavily!.......and I'm sure you'd understand? Acting can't really be taught,digging out emotions at the snap of fingers isn't something you can truly learn....you have it,or you can borrow it,or you don't have it. My performance isn't Othello,but you can't see it was my first time.......where's Desdemona!!! Don't ask questions you already know the answers to Melissa!

Thank you Rik again :) The nobody part is because my family has always called me a nobody, long story but i have been proving them wrong ever since :) Keverne great answers there in your life, well done you are doing great, Now all is good and great but the question still remains without experience no one takes you seriously, so when you apply for things you rarely get a answer because you are unknown,Unless you have a friend in the business you cant get a break what is the answer how do you get a break ? I will never give up :)

I was just thinking about this the other day. Obviously I believe I'm a natural entertainer as well. Then I thought "well, doesn't everyone trying to make it as an actor think the same way?" Why wouldn't they?

Agreed Chad we all have to believe in ourself and this is great. But when everyone keeps saying omg you should act because to be truthful no one ever knows when to take you serious because we cant tell if your acting or not i think i have got what it takes :) But will i ever know unless i can get people to believe in me :)

okay its established you dont think school is in your future. how do you plan on getting the experiance it takes to get work? Do you know how to deliver a monologue at an audition? Do you know how to cold read a scene which is also what one can end up doing at auditions? At the very least get some books on the important subjects that you need to know about and study independantly. Even comunity theater has auditons and you need to know what to do.

Thanks Tabitha for your input :) monologue yeah i can deliver that with ease, cold script reading is not a problem as i said earlier i only have to read a scene once and can remember the lines when i need to come in and what my actions need to be . Can you recomend any good books please ?

Ha Daniel, thats where i would go that much further :) i could eat the maggots. But i know what you mean my whole life has been one big acting lesson, i have to play each scene every day to make it fit to others need to see it,

Melissa, I hope that someday soon you can overcome your challenge and realize your family was wrong. From your posts here I see their calling you a "nobody" colors and affects your outlook on life. Understandable. New people break into the business all the time, every single day. People take serious people seriously. As soon as you overcome this "nobody" issue you will see that and you will be on the fast track to becoming a working entertainer. I wish you all the best.

Ladies and gentlemen has it occured to me that we might be simply being jerked around by this person who may be looking for material for some project or other? There are plenty of newbees who want to at the very least listen to the advice listed here. If I had an ignore button I'd press it.

Tabitha,you know that some Trolls have babies,and those baby trolls are abandoned at birth....then they grow up thinking that they're someone else but an abandoned Troll baby,they die their hair different colours and even begin to speak differently.Then one day they get hold of a computer just like the one Mummy had,and all their Troll instincts surge back to the surface and they appear to be innocent team players,but in reality they're a new breed of time wasting Trolls....the worst kind,'The Troll Orphan'......and it'll take you at least 23 comments to realize that this little Troll has got nothing to propose,offer or share....like being in a party where you pass by 4 or 5 drunken guest,desperately trying to claw their way into a conversation with meaning,but each person inevitably slips,looses grip and falls to their social death.........well I can see Melissa has lost her grip already,poor girl!

First of all, it is best if you stop thinking of yourself as a nobody. All you need to do is identify what you want to do, then find a way to do it. After a while if you do it enough you will get noticed.

Surely if your so experienced you can see when someone is looking for help ? Yes i admit it may seem late in life to be trying but as they say, its never too late.
