Finishing school

So I am pretty excited to share that I am going back to Full Sail University to get my bachelors in Creative writing. I definitely think it will help me in my screenwriting. What is everyone's thoughts on Full Sail University and the creative writing degree in general? Any one else have a creative writing background ?

Some people need school in order to push themselves to write. So school can help. A degree means nothing when it comes to selling a screenplay. No one will ask or look at a degree - they are only interested in the finished screenplay. But it's good that you're excited. You say you're going back so you must have had a good experience with them before. My creative writing background is putting my butt in the chair and writing - every day.

Yeah I definitely hear what you're saying. I don't need school to push me to write , I am going back to school because I want to be the best writer I can be and having a stronger understanding of writing and story structure will help me be a better writer. I definitely know having a degree means nothing when it comes to selling a screenplay its all about the finished product. Thanks for you're input appreciate it Rik.

Hi Jason, I've often been tempted to do the same thing, mostly as a plan B. My professional friends keep saying I'd do well in academia. But so far I simply couldn't bring myself to do that and put the writing projects I'm interested in on the back-burner. Guess only time will tell what the right choice would've been...
