New Directing Demo Reel

Hey everyone, I just updated my directing demo reel. Any kind of feedback would be amazing! Thank you. https://vimeo.com/m/58436116

Thank you very much.

I like it. The only thing I might suggest is leaving off the dates, or removing the clip from 2008 (which is not your strongest clip). People like to see things as being fresh! :>) IMHO You might also try doing a shorter clip i.e. 2-3 minutes. I know it will be hard, but it's nice to have a teaser reel. Nice to see some familiar faces in your actors! Best, ~Kristina 90 sec. Comedy Demo Reel: http://twitpic.com/ckbeai

Hey Kristina, thank you. That is great advice. I will remove the dates. Would you suggest that I rearrange the content of the reel? And if so, what would you recommend to be first and last?

Kristina Hughes

I would suggest you maybe make a little chart of the scenes. How do you categorize them...thriller, drama, etc. and then perhaps cut a drama reel, a thriller reel, etc. Then when you are looking for specific folks to hire you to direct drama, you have that tight reel. You might find yourself tightening the scenes i.e. re-editing them shorter than the final project, that's ok, I think. What your reel, ask some mentors and take out anything that seems less than your absolute best. You may end up loving everything or you may end up taking away. A long reel is great for your body of work, but the reel in my opinion is to help get you in the door and some people will never (sadly) watch a long reel.

I definitely know what you mean. I think making a few tighter reels for different genres is a great idea. I know I wanted to have something shorter than 5 minutes for sure, but even that is asking a lot for someone to watch these days. My step next is actually finding the producers to suit the reels to, haha. I really appreciate your feedback. Thank you again.

Wonderful advice from Kristina. Agree. Punch it up and will be even more impressive.

Thank you very much, Debbie and Kristina. This is valuable feedback is what makes this site worth it!

You got it! Keep me posted on your progress! BTW this is a 'Talent of Target' free webinar I co-host. Might help you in getting that target list together to see what should be the focus for who/m. http://www.performertrack.com/webinars-home-pw-tot-od.html
