Your Stage : Latest short film from 100 hour contest by Ryan Shovey

Hope you don't mind the following feedback. I really appreciate constructive criticism, so here goes. Overall, this was a really nice effort. I liked that there was at least the revenge/vigilante theme for the boys who thought beating up a woman was a good idea. Turnabout is always fun and satisfying. However, it was pretty clear to me that the boys were being set up. I would've loved not to see any of the boys faces until the garage scene. Either silhouetted or from the back, could've made them more menacing. The fact that you see these boyish faces in the first few minutes doesn't make them particularly threatening. I did like the business that the gang "leader" had with the lighter. I would've had him give his first line with the cigarette anywhere other than dead center of his mouth, as all I got was a mumble. But he was easily the most menacing of the gang. As for our, um, heroine, I would've liked to have seen the reveal of her true nature until the very last boy/victim's POV closeup on her face. She seemed to have a lot of walking without much point to it, other than "well-built woman in a red dress". The camera wobble/shake on the crane (I'm assuming it was a crane/jib shot) in the opening shot was distracting and took me out early on to where I was paying more attention to what the camera was doing than what the lady in red was doing. And finally, the guy on the phone was not working. I wouldn't have used any of his footage, and I would've just left the person on the other end of the phone unexplained. It didn't add anything to the film for me. Thanks for showing this!

We used the Canon 5d, and I did all the color correction in After Effects with the Red Giant products, finally topping it off with the Film Convert Pro plugin for texture.

The quality of the piece was good. I would have liked to see more consistency in the behavior of the actress character. If she has super powers why was she unaware that she was being followed? Why was she so frightened? Why did it take her so long to react when being attacked?

Thank you for the comment Amy. The intention of her character was that she was leading the gang on, basically luring them into a situation to attack her, which is why she has so much fun with eating them, or "playing with her food".

That was fun! Can't help but mention that if she was using PerformerTrack she would have dumped the agent and never gone to the location in the first place. SAFETY FIRST! Looking forward to the sequel..."The Callback" I'll gladly be the new vampire friend! :>) Love the end music too. LOVE NEW Orleans.
