Found this amazing website when Stage 32's Twitter account followed me. I joined immediately. I aspire to be a talent agent, film producer, or publicist. Currently I work as an assistant to actor Mark Patton, best known as "Jesse Walsh" from A Nightmare On Elm Street 2: Freddy's Revenge. It is a pleasure to have discovered such a wonderful website. Hm. What exactly do you mean, if I might ask. Just for clarification.
If I may interjet -- why not try asking Mark Patton if his publicist would mind taking an afternoon and letting you intern for them? You'd gain some valuable skills firsthand, and since you already know Mark, it might make everything easier to understand since it's directly relatable. Would his agent be willing to speak with you? If you're on set with him, do you watch what the producers and other crew do in their daily work activities? You're in a pretty great spot to get a lot of experience and learn a lot by way of your assistant position.
Mark actually lives in Mexico and I in Ohio. This position doesn't quite have the kinks worked out yet but my work has already begun. It's difficult to have a long distance position, especially since there are not sufficient funds for him to bring his other assistant and I along with him just yet. I intend on inquiring him once he finishes filming a project in Berlin regarding quite a few details. He recently returned to the film industry after a very large break that began in the mid 80s, so besides his two agents(who he is not very happy with), I do not believe he has a publicist. Jumping from simply being a fan to working for him is a little rough, but it's nothing that can't be solved soon enough. I appreciate your suggestions, Jasmine. They help a great deal!
