A Perfect Man.

By now, you've probably heard about the horrible travesty that occurred recently in Santa Barbara. A vile, sick and tormented young man stole the lives of six other young people and wounded 13 others in a murderous rampage. In a YouTube video, this depraved, psychotic, and miserable excuse for a human being refers to himself as, "A perfect guy… A supreme gentleman… A true alpha male…" And finally, "The superior one…" Obviously, he was in every sense of the word, DELUSIONAL and nothing could have been further from the truth. Nevertheless, I began to wonder what exactly makes up "a perfect guy" and whom if anyone, qualifies as "a supreme gentleman" or even a superior man? Quite perplexed by this question, I decided to consult my dear friend, Ako Eyong. True to form, he said to me, "My dear brother, there is no such thing as a superior man, nor a supreme gentleman, nor a perfect guy... Neither is there any such thing as a true alpha male. We are all just imperfect beings trying to survive and doing the best we can with what God has given us.. There is none who is perfect; no not one…" Yep, that's my friend, Ako all right. He is indeed an extraordinary person. He is a political refugee from Cameroon who overcame incredible adversity and somehow made it to America. He is a magnificent artist and brilliant author. In the years that he has been in this country, though sometimes he was forced to sleep in his car, he has still painted many incredible works of art and has also written a wonderful novel entitled, "The Vision of the Blind King." Not once did I ever hear him complain, blame others, or even remotely feel sorry for himself. Even in the most difficult of times, he would smile and say, "My brother, a bad day in America is still better than a good day in Cameroon…" His entire being literally radiates with love and gratitude and he is always an absolute joy to be around. You know, now that I think about it, maybe life is not about who's perfect and who's not. Maybe it's as simple as just loving your fellow man and Ako definitely does that.
