Financing / Crowdfunding : Interesting New Crowdfunding Platform Launched by Katherine Blakeney

In the spirit of contributing more to this lovely community than sheer self-promotion (although I'm definitely including a bit of that too later in this post), I want to share a link to a new crowdfunding platform in the UK designed specifically for creative projects. I hope it may be really useful to many Stage32ers! The platform was launched by the UK arts charity IdeasTap. They charge 0% commissions for members (and it's free to become a member) and pledge £500 themselves to their favorite projects to help them along. Other than that the system is quite similar to other crowdfunding sites like IndieGoGo and Kickstarter and it currently operates on an all-or-nothing model only. Pledges are received only if you reach your target by the deadline. I strongly recommend checking it out and joining IdeasTap, especially if you are in the UK. They run a range of contests, free workshops and training opportunities for filmmakers, photographers, actors, artists, writers and dancers. Some opportunities do have age limits but many do not.
