Introduce Yourself : Screenwriter by Tracey Bradley

Screenwriter

I've been on stage 32 for a while, but haven't actually introduced myself yet. I'm a screenwriter from Southwest Missouri. I have also produced and directed a couple of short films and have the first draft of my first novel completed. I have two feature scripts (coming of age dramas) currently making the rounds. Found out this week that one, Signs of Being, is a semi-finalist in the 2014 Page Awards - One of the top 25 scripts in Drama. Yay! I sent off my new draft early this morning and am now refusing to read it and chance finding the many errors I probably missed :) . Wishing everyone luck on his/her journey!

Good morning, Tracey. I noticed you're not far from me and was wondering how things have been going for you as far as living out here and breaking into the business. Hope all has been well :)

Hi Rose, Good to meet you. It's going really well actually. Takes a lot of dedication to keep it moving, but that's true anywhere. What type of material do you write? What contest did you enter?

Rose Summers

I'm entered in Scriptapalooza. The final deadline is in a few days and I've been busy with pulling another edit for resubmission. A few weeks ago I noticed some typo's and decided that since I would have to pay the $30 to resubmit, I'd make sure it was polished completely. I'm really happy that I did because it would have been embarrassing to be judged on those mistakes. I am writing in multiple genre's but primarily I like romantic dramas. My to-write list for this year includes action, family, fantasy, horror (2) and another romantic drama, the sequel to the one I'd submitted. My strength is in suspense and romance but I'm trying different genre's to see if I have other strengths. What do you write?

Tracey Bradley

Hi Rose, Best of luck in Scriptapalooza. Sounds like you have a big year of writing planned. I generally spend about 4-8 months on a project including beta reads and rewrites. I generally write indi drama, but I'm completing an action/thriller script now that incorporates some of the themes I like to explore in a more marketable package.
