Introduce Yourself : Actor in the ATX by Benjamin Alany

Hi all. I'm an actor currently residing in Austin, TX. Non-union currently, primarily film acting, but I do a bit of everything when I can. I've even been a voice actor in a PC game, oddly enough (Warlock 2: The Exiled). I've done some student short films when starting out, made appearances here and there in different projects, etc. I had a scene in locally shot indie feature "Six Pack Sam" as an imprisoned serial killer by the name of "Jake Hyde" for example. I recently wrapped a scene in another indie feature film called "Tribute to All Things Haunting" from the creative mind of Pierre La Failles Jr. of Tribute to All, LLC. I played a Strange Monster, very entertaining role. Check out my photos section for some shots from set in full costume. https://www.stage32.com/profile/170220/photos/982581624287799936 I've also been featured in a non-speaking role in the recently released Sin City 2: A Dame to Kill For, as one of the regulars in Kadie's Club Pecos. That was a blast, amazing set to be on, and I was grateful to share a set with so much amazing talent. Troublemaker Studios has a great crew on hand as well, really enjoyed working with those fine people. I don't have an agent yet, but I recently had a promising audition for a local agency, and things have been picking up lately in general. I don't wait for permission to work, agent or no agent; I go out and get what I can, while of course being selective and discerning in order to protect myself and my growing career. I train constantly, and I've taken classes with some of the best acting coaches in Austin. I'm actively auditioning as well, keeping busy whenever I can, and I try to attend local networking/industry events to connect with other creatives. I used to think I had no place in a business like this, that you had to look like a model to be an actor, or that you had to start at an early age. It hasn't been easy, but my persistence is paying off. I keep myself well informed, and I maintain a professional attitude with an emphasis on reliability. I no longer feel like I have to be normal, or try to be, in order to excel. In this business, I can be my strange, weird self, and be valued for it. If I can do it, so can you. I look forward to seeing you on set, whether it's behind the scenes or in front of the camera, or in the production office, etc. It all matters, and all works together.
