It's a journey and an adventure

I was determined to leave high school to go straight in to Drama school, however, circumstances dictated that this could not happen. Instead I served my time as an apprentice mechanic, whilst taking part in local amateur dramatic performances. I wrote my first production (a pantomime) at age of 17 along with some friends, which we then produced and performed to public audience December 1977. After getting married, I joined the Fire Service and I've had a successful career spanning over 30 years. In the late '90's Part of my job was to train other Fire Officers with media skills, including TV studios and how to present themselves on camera when interviewed. This led to requests from other agencies for me to use my on screen presentation skills for corporate films. I joined Equity in 2000 and attended many training workshops with a view to part time professional acting training. In 2002 I was left to care for my two children on my own and stop the training until the children were old enough to care for themselves. I've been training as a professional actor in Glasgow since 2012. I have written, directed and acted in several short films and theatre productions. I am director of Blazebuster Productions. I value the discipline of acting on both stage and screen and continue to play an active part in front and behind the scenes.

Your training sounds amazing and your introduction was so professional, you seem like a truly great person to work with! With your experience what have you found that you prefer more - stage or screen?

George Carson

I prefer film. For a huge number of reasons. But they're both so completely different. Thank you for your kind words. :-)

Amanda Toney

It's great to have you as a part of the community, George! Best wishes to you- it seems like you have some pretty amazing things happening for yourself!
