While a law student at Southern Methodist University Dedman School of Law, Gabe Reed worked full time and was mentored in the intricacies of complex litigation by the legendary trial attorney John Howie, principal partner of the Dallas, Texas-based firm Howie & Sweeney. By the time Gabe graduated from SMU Dedman School of Law in 1998, he was a battled- a tested veteran of several high-profile cases, including the litigation surrounding the tragic ValuJet airplane crash in South Florida. After graduating from law school, Reed went on to consult with several preeminent trial attorneys, including Ted B. Lyon of Ted B. Lyon & Associates in Mesquite, Texas, Ed Bell of the Bell Law Firm in Georgetown, South Carolina, and Mike Arias of Arias, Ozzelo & Gignac in Los Angeles, California.

As an integral member of these firm’s national trial teams, Reed assisted in the management of litigation brought by individuals, municipalities, and public water suppliers across the United States who sought to recover damages for personal injuries, medical monitoring, and clean-up costs caused by contamination resulting from corporations who were responsible for placing dangerous products into the stream of commerce without ensuring that their products would not cause extensive environmental contamination. Over the years, Reed consulted on the national litigation arising from contamination driven by the oil industry’s use of the gasoline additive Methyl tertiary-butyl ether (MTBE), the City of Dallas v. Explorer Pipeline Company case which involved the then most significant release of gasoline products into a drinking water resource in the continental United States, and the environmental contamination caused by the poultry industry’s operation practices.

Having spent his teenage years in the music business, Gabe had a keen interest in helping his childhood friends who had “grown up” to be rock stars with various business issues. Reed’s interest in helping his rock star friends evolved into his becoming a “deal-maker” on behalf of prominent rock stars such as Journey and members of KISS, Motley Crue, and Guns N’ Roses. Reed’s success in securing profitable deals for several rock legends led to his promoting the opening night of KISS’ Alive 35 South American stadium tour in 2009.

After successfully executing the KISS concert spectacle in front of 45,000 Chilean fans, Gabe became the “go-to” guy for promoting South American concert tours. Over the years, Gabe announced South American terms by rock legends, including Motley Crue. Gabe eventually created his own touring.…. brands such as the Rock N’ Roll All-Stars featuring Gene Simmons performing alongside other Rock N’ Roll Hall of Famers from Guns N' Roses, Def Leppard, and Deep Purple. The Rock N’ Roll All Stars’ South American tour was featured in the A&E Network’s Gene Simmons’ Family Jewels and resulted in Gabe having a recurring role in several of the series’ episodes. Unfortunately, Reed experienced a well-publicized life-changing personal crisis that led to reevaluating his life priorities. Gabe has written a soon-to-be-published book about his rise and fall in the music business that has been optioned for television.

Now retired from the music business, Reed has returned to his complex litigation roots, and in doing so, has reunited with his lifelong friend from his formative days at Howie & Sweeney, REW managing partner Mark Robinius.

As REW’s Senior Litigation Consultant, Reed brings over 25 years of complex civil litigation management expertise to the firm and its clients.

Besides his litigation experience, Reed’s reset and the hard lessons learned in his own life have created a tenacious and burning desire to empower the powerless by helping REW’s clients achieve a measure of justice against corporate wrongdoers. The REW Complex Litigation Group is on a mission to empower the powerless.
