Film (short) by Makgabaneng Writer LE NNA is a heart-wrenching 25 minutes 30 seconds short film about a father named Thabiso, who is struggling to cope with the grief of his missing daughter, Segolame. The community and even his wife seem to suspect he had a hand in the disappearance of their beloved daughter. Thabiso is constantly haunted by Sego’s disappearance and is consumed with guilt, despite not being the one responsible for the kidnapping. As the film progresses, we see the family slowly falling apart as they are unable to cope with the loss. The tension in the house is palpable, and Thabiso becomes more and more isolated. He is tormented by both his guilt and his inability to find Segolame and bring her home. However, things take a turn when Segolame is finally brought home by the police. But the family is too late to save Thabiso, who tragically takes his own life in the house. Now what was supposed to be a happy ending begins another journey of pain, loss and regret. In the end, LE NNA is a poignant tale that expertly captures the pain and grief that comes with the loss of a loved one. It endures among audiences as one of the most touching portrayals of the devastating impact of child abduction and parents who struggle with grief and the blame that comes with such incidents.
